According to the weather service Ubimet, the Pentecost weekend will spoil us with lots of sunshine and summer temperatures up to 27 degrees. Here is the forecast in detail.
Thanks to high VERA, Austria will have a tranquil Pentecost holiday this year. From Friday up to and including Monday, sunshine will dominate most of the time, and temperatures will be consistently in the pleasant range of 20 to 27 degrees.
There are also good prospects for all those who want to use the long weekend for a short vacation on the Upper Adriatic.
Early summer will be interrupted only briefly.
The guest performance of the summer in May of the past days pauses only temporarily; on Monday, this was the warmest day of the year so far, with a good 29 degrees in downtown Vienna. With Bregenz, there was finally a summer day in the last remaining provincial capital at the start of the week.
The weather on Wednesday will often be changeable and, except for the friendly northeast, also densely cloudy. But on Thursday, the low-pressure influence ends, and the high VERA with core over the North Sea and Great Britain takes over more and more the direction of the weather more. High-pressure influence is then also the keyword for the extended weekend.
From Friday up to and including Monday, sunshine will dominate throughout the country; if at all sources, clouds will feel themselves over the mountains. In addition, it will remain dry in most of Austria throughout the weekend; even over the hills, the tendency to showers remains low.
The temperatures are perfect for outdoor activities – not too cool or hot. The maximum values on Sunday are primarily between 20 and 27 degrees, which should always be warmest in the west and southwest.
So the conditions are also nearly perfect for extended hikes. The frost line rises to well above 3,000 meters; at 2,000 meters, we expect highs around +10 degrees. However, snow is still to be considered; incredibly steep old snow fields can be treacherous when traversing.
Also, in popular destinations for a short vacation, perfect weather conditions announce themselves. Around the Upper Adriatic Sea, sunny early summer weather also dominates throughout the weekend; the temperatures are similar to those in this country, with 24 to 27 degrees.
Extensive beach days are therefore assured, but the jump into the calm waters of the Mediterranean Sea will probably be reserved for the hardy. Croatia and northern Italy’s water temperature is still a refreshing 17 or 18 degrees.
